Detectives recover stolen property, drug paraphernalia in Jefferson Township

JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP — A group was arrested for possession of stolen property and other charges Monday, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Richard Behnke reported that his office conducted an investigation regarding stolen property at 11 a.m. Monday in the 67000 block of Hess Road in Jefferson Township. The investigation was prompted when the St. Joseph County, Indiana Sheriff’s Office contacted the Cass County Sheriff’s Office asking for assistance with recovering a large amount of stolen property that was taken from a breaking and entering in St. Joseph County.

During the investigation, deputies obtained a search warrant for the property on Hess Road. A search of the property turned up a large amount of stolen property, a firearm, methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Five women and two men were arrested at the scene for possession of stolen property, along with drug and firearm charges.

The names of the suspects will be released upon arraignment.
