County seeking applicants for vacant road commission spot

The Cass County Board of Commissioners is seeking candidates for an appointment to the Cass County Road Commission.

The five-member commission meets twice a month, oversees the operations of the county road agency and adopts an annual budget for the maintenance and construction of local roads. A biennial primary and local road program is also developed, based on long-range plans to be sure all roads are in reasonable repair, safe and convenient for public travel.

Interested candidates must complete an application form, which is available at casscountymi.org under Forms/Documents/Fees or at the Cass County Administrator’s Office inside the Cass County Building, 120 N. Broadway, Suite 116, Cassopolis, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Applications are due into the Administrator’s Office by Oct. 12, and interviews for selected applicants will be on Oct. 20. The new road commissioner will be appointed effective Jan. 1, 2018, for a six-year term. Compensation is $4,400 per year.
