SOUTH BEND — Entertaining History, Inc., with special permission of the South Bend Parks Department, is recently announced that the seventh annual Michiana Renaissance Festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 26 to 27 at its new location, Pinhook Park in South Bend, Indiana.

Pinhook Park, just off Riverside Drive in South Bend, is transformed into a world where pirates pillage, vikings plunder and knights joust to defend their kingdom and queen.

Festival goers will be treated to entertainment such as fire breathing, juggling, aerial acrobatics, live steel combat, as well as comedic theatrical performances.

Jousting will be hosted twice daily during the festival weekend. Children of all ages can interact with vikings, pirates and knights. There is an opportunity to participate in the Queen’s Quest and receive a prize at the Queen’s Court.

“We love to make history fun. That special moment when you see their eyes light up because not only are they learning, but they are having a great time — that is what makes it all worthwhile,” said Elizabeth Markell, President of Entertaining History.  “There are four historical reenactment areas, six stages with acts performing every 45 minutes, jousting, food, unique shops and a pub. Something for everyone in the family, and so many performances you couldn’t see all of them in both days if you tried.”

Tickets are $12 for adults ages 13 and up, $10 for seniors and $7 for children ages 6-12. Children ages 5 and under and United States military members (with ID) are FREE.

Attendees who bring a non-perishable food item to benefit the Food Bank of Northern Indiana and will receive $1 off the price of admission (maximum of $2 off the price of each ticket).
