CASSOPOLIS — A boating accident took place Sunday on Diamond Lake, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the accident at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 20. When they arrived on scene, they found a boat driven by Nicholas Peluchiwiski, a 17-year-old Chicago resident, pulling a wake border. Peluchiwiski failed to observe a fishing boat in his path and struck the fishing boat. The two riders of the fishing boat, Thomas Blakemore, 61, of Flossmor, Illinois and his son, jumped from the boat into the water prior to collision.

None of individuals involved required medical treatment.

Deputies have determined that alcohol was not a factor in the accident, though the case remains under investigation.
