Community makes annual Fair Precious Baby Contest a success

Cass County Right to Life sponsored its annual Precious Baby Contest during the county fair, which took place July 30 through Aug. 5.

A total of 18 baby pictures were submitted for the event. Fair visitors voted for the most precious baby by making a cash donation to Cass County Right to Life, an affiliate of Michigan Right to Life.

The community donated a total of $1,100 during the week. Area businesses also contributed prizes to the contest winners.

Right to Life gave the top three winners $100, $75 and $50, respectively. The Cassopolis McDonald’s donated 25 free Happy Meals to the contestants, as well.

Top 18 winners were:

• First place — Everly Dussel, of Dowagiac, parents Darrin and Arminda, $100

• Second place — Katherine Phillips, of Three Rivers, parents James and Lindsay, $75

• Third place — Axton Alford, of Vandalia, parents Joe and Ashley, $50

• Fourth place — Isaiah and Levi Proctor, of Niles, parents Andrew and Brittany, $50 from Cass Auto Supply Inc., of Cassopolis

• Fifth place — Naomi Kwast, of Cassopolis, parents David and Bethanna, $50 gift card from Harding’s, of Cassopolis

• Sixth place — Cooper Barrett, of Dowagiac, parents Mark Barrett Jr. and Jennifer Fry, $50 from Barry’s Automotive, of Dowagiac

• Seventh place — Kayden Asmus, of Marcellus, parents Matt and Abby, $50 gift card from Harding’s, of Dowagiac

• Eighth place — Aceson Morgan, of South Bend, parents Dwayne and Moranda Hegedus, $30 gift certificate from 1st Choice Automotive, of Dowagiac

• Ninth place — Breelynn Wood, of Cassopolis, parents Mark and Ashley Wood, $30 gift certificate from Marcello’s Pizza, of Cassopolis

• 10th place — Adaline and Reminton Randolph, of Dowagiac, parents Wayne and Elizabeth, $25 gift card from Proctor Auto Repair, of Edwardsburg

• 11th place — Clara Richey, of Marcellus, parents Logan and Shelby, $25 gift card from LaPlace for Latte, of Edwardsburg

• 12th place — Elsie Richey, of Cassopolis, parents Abe and Marina, $25 gift certificate from Saylor’s Pizza, of Dowagiac

• 13th place — Jane Richey, of Cassopolis, parents Abe and Marina, $20 in gas cards from Phillips 66, of Cassopolis, and a coupon from The Twirl, of Cassopolis

• 14th place — Ginaiyah Mann, of Cassopolis, parent Kenyah Boyd, $20 and a George’s Café T-shirt from George’s Café, of Cassopolis, and a coupon from The Twirl, of Cassopolis

• 15th place — Chloe Hoffman, of Constantine, parents Josh and Lauire Hoffman, $20 from Stone Lake Mini Mart, of Cassopolis, and a coupon from The Twirl, of Cassopolis.

Cass County Right to Life will use proceeds from the contest to further its educational outreach to the community. It also provides support to the Michigan Right to Life Educational Fund for its media goals, which raises money for TV advertisements and its 1-80057-WOMAN number.

Support is also given to its state organization, Right to Life of Michigan and the Pregnancy Care Center, of Niles.

Cass County Right to Life is a nonpartisan, nonsectarian, nonprofit organization of diverse and caring people, united to protect the precious life of human life, from fertilization to natural death, organizers said.
