Final results have been tabulated for the 14th Annual Chieftain Golf Outing, hosted at the Indian Lake Hills on June 22.

By all measures the event was a huge success again this year with 208 participating golfers, organizers said. Thanks to the generosity of hundreds of individuals, organizations and businesses, a new record was achieved this year with more than $43,000 raised, bringing the grand total since 2004 to almost $412,000.

Each year, 100 percent of the proceeds are split equally between the Dowagiac Schools Foundation and the Dowagiac Athletic Boosters.

“We are grateful for the tremendous community support this event receives each year,” said Tom Carlson, chairman of the Chieftain Golf Committee. “Our committee is intentionally small with only seven members. We begin meeting in January each year to plan the next outing. Each member works hard and is dedicated to making the outing successful, all for the benefit of our students, staff, athletes and coaches. But we also realize that there are numerous others that volunteer their time and talents, often behind the scenes, to make the outing a success. We sincerely appreciate their efforts as well as the cooperation of Indian Lake Hills Golf Course owners, Lynn and Steve Miller, Suzy Vanderburg and their staff”
