Ladies Library hosting annual book sale

On Tuesday, members of the Ladies Library Association were busy arranging books on tables and shelves for their sale, which takes place now through July 25.

They were helped by the Dowagiac Chieftain football team, who carried lots of heavy boxes from storage. These books are generous donations from individuals, or are those removed from circulation at the library.

Patrons will be able to look through thousands of both hardbacks and paperbacks. This time, there is an especially fine collection of cookbooks, organizers said.

Shoppers may also choose from fiction, non-fiction, audio/visual materials, selections for children and magazines. There are also some reference materials.

Hours for the sale are regular library hours. On Monday and Tuesday, thrifty buyers may purchase a bag of books for $2.  Organizers encourage the public to shop once or shop often.

This is one of two fundraisers the Ladies Library Association hosts every year. The other is a mailing in September.

At that time, the public’s money gifts in any amount will make them a member of this long established organization, whose sole goal is to add support to the Dowagiac District Library.
