• Noon to 1:30 p.m. — Summer lunches

Summer Lunches will run noon to 1:30 p.m. Monday to Friday at Patti’s Place. Children and teens from infant to 18 can eat for free, as well as handicapped persons up to age 21. A small fee is charged for adults for these nutritious summer meals. All meals must be eaten inside of the building, there will have plenty of programs after lunch for attendance as well.

Monday, July 17

11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. — Lunchtime Adult Coloring

Located inside the Rotunda (or outside on the patio, weather permitting), the event will include time coloring. All materials will be provided. Those interested can stop in for a few minutes or stay the whole time.

• Noon to 1 p.m. — Hot Mess Monday

For teens: each Monday, the library has an activity that may be messy. Those participating should dress accordingly. This will take place Storytime Room. This week participants will paint on canvas.

• 1 to 2 p.m. and 6 to 7 p.m. — Messy Monday

For youth ages 2 to 12, there will be sensory and messy activity. There will be crafts, sensory experiences, and experiments to exercise the brain. This fun may be messy, so guests are asked to dress accordingly. This week, the activity will include sensory bins. Meet outside by the picnic table. In cases of inclement weather, this event will be canceled.

• 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. — Chair Yoga

Tammy Pressler will teach the benefits of yoga while doing poses in a sturdy chair. Learn techniques to rebuild balance along the way.

• 7 to 8 p.m. — CDA Niles

Chemically Dependent Anonymous is a 12-step fellowship for anyone seeking freedom from drug and alcohol addiction. CDA Niles has a room reserved at the library every Monday and Wednesday. For more information visit cdaweb.org/

Tuesday, July 18

• 10:30 a.m. — Passport Pals

This activity will include a story time tour of the world. Each week, the library will have books, songs, a craft, and other surprises relating to the special country of the month. Participants will earn a passport stamp.

• Noon to 1 p.m. — Trail Mix Tuesday

For teens ages 13 to 19. This program is geared towards those that like to eat. Each week, the library will have a different food themed activity. Meet in the Storytime Room. This week participants will make ice cream snowmen.

• 1 to 2 p.m. — Tasty Tuesday

Children ages infant to 12 are welcome to join us for a fun food themed craft. Spend some time crafting your creation, and then celebrate by eating it. This week participants will make edible dough.

• 4 to 5:30 p.m. — NDL Board Meeting

• 6 to 7 p.m. — Chips and Chapters

This activity is for all ages. This is a read aloud story time. Ms. Tara will read aloud from a chapter book while participants eat chips and follow along.

• 6 to 7:30 p.m. — Women’s 12-Step Meeting

This meeting is for women in search of support working through the 12 steps of AA.  Drop-ins are welcome.

• 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. — Lego Building Challenge

Participants are invited to use a bucket of Legos and creativity and show it to the Youth Services staff.  Pictures are taken to show all followers on Facebook.

Wednesday, July 19

• Multiple times — Storytime day

Squealers (infant to 18 months) at 9:30 a.m., squeakers (18 months to 3 years) at 10 a.m., squigglers (18 months to 5 years) at 10:30 a.m., story time (youth ages 3 and up) at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

• Noon to 1 p.m. — Wednesday Crafternoon

There will be a chance to make duct tape flowers. Free lunch is available to eat crafting in Patti’s Place.

• 6:30 to 8 p.m. — Readers Circle Book Club

Led by Sally Ginter, Readers Circle members have enlightening and thought provoking conversations about books from a wide variety of genres.  This is the perfect place for serious book lovers and new members are welcome.  Books are available at the info desk.

• 7 to 8 p.m. — CDA Niles

• 7 to 8:30 p.m. — Fort St. Joseph Archaeological Lecture Series

Dr. Sonya Atlay, Associate Professor of Anthropology at University of Massachusetts-Amherst, will present “Braiding Knowledge: Community-Based Archaeology with Turkish and Native American Communities.” This program is free and open to the public.

Thursday, July 20

• 10 to 11:30 a.m. — Positive Parenting Program

For parents or caretakers who wish to learn a variety of parenting skills that will promote their child’s development and potential. Discussion group topics include: “Positive Parenting, Dealing with Disobedience, Managing Fighting and Aggression, Developing Good Bedtime Routines, Hassle-Free Shopping with Children. • 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. — The Connection

As Berrien County’s Housing Resource Center, The Connection provides a centralized intake that works together with the consumer to rapidly re-house those who are homeless.  Housing Resource Specialists will be at the library every Thursday. • 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. — Storytime

For kids ages 3 and up. Storytime features three books, a color song, and music and movement. The program will end with a hand stamp, coloring sheet and a craft.

• 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. — Teen Book Club

Teen Book Club members will be taken on an amazing journey this summer.  The book club will read books all about teens that have worked hard to overcome adversity. Teens are invited to grab a free lunch and have great conversation.  The group will discuss “Ghost” by Jason Reynolds this week.

• 1 to 4:30 p.m. — Mahjong

Volunteers are available to teach newbies how to play.  Other board games are also available.

• 6 to 7:30 p.m. — Teen Time

Teens can visit the library for  games, snacks, books, and a place to study in the Teen Department.

Friday, July 21

• 10 a.m. to noon —  TOPS Meeting

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) is a nonprofit, noncommercial weight-loss support group and wellness education organization. TOPS offer tools and programs for healthy living and weight management, with group fellowship and recognition. Established in 1948 to champion weight loss support and success, TOPS has helped millions of people live healthier lives. New members are welcome.

• 10:30 a.m. — Family Feature Friday

Every Friday this summer, the library will be showing classic family, friendly films. This week will feature the 1968 classic, “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!”

• 2 to 4p.m. — Teen Features

This week’s feature is “Buffy, the Vampire Slayer” (1992).

• 3 to 5 p.m. — Twisted Stitches

Those who participate can enjoy a cup of coffee or tea and chat while working on yarn or sewing project.  Rookies are welcome.

Saturday, July 22

• 8 to 10 a.m. — Niles Cleanup

Join library staff members for a morning of public service and picking up litter in one of the neighborhoods near the library. Participants will meet at the library entrance at 8 a.m. and pick up trash between the library and the Ferry Street School. Gloves and trash bags will be provided. • 10 a.m. to noon — Sensory Saturday

Each week there will be a different sensory bin for children to explore.

• 10:30 a.m. — Wee Readers

Wee Readers is story time for children infant to 5. This story time will teach young learners all about a story, nursery rhymes, counting to 5, and music and movement.

• 3 to 5 p.m. — Teen Tech

Friends, video games and snacks are part of this activity in Patti’s Place.
