Cass County COA plans upcoming events

The Cass County COA has planned a number of activities for next week at its Dowagiac location, Front Street Crossing, at 227 S. Front St.

Monday, July 17

Cardio challenge

8 to 8:45 a.m.

This low-impact, high-energy class will challenge participants’ entire bodies with cardio, strength training and balance exercises. Mat exercises are also incorporated for a well-rounded workout. Cost is $25 per month or $5 for walk-ins.

Vim and vigor transitions

9 to 9:45 a.m.

This workout is both in and out of a chair and focuses on heart health, strength, flexibility and balance. Cost is $25 per month or $5 for walk-ins.

S.E.A.T. (sit, exercise, and tone)

10 to 10:45 a.m.

This chair-based class is great for anyone concerned with balance and stability. The focus is on maintaining flexibility and strength. Cost is $25 per month or $5 for walk-ins.

Tai chi

11 a.m. and 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Guests can improve their posture, strength of hips, thighs and core with this gentle mind body exercise. Cost is $20 per month. Doors are locked right at 5:30 so attendees should arrive early for the evening class.

Bingo

12:45 p.m.

Follow the lunch hour by playing for fun and prizes. Cost is $2.25.

Champagne flutes

1:30 p.m.

This group of flute players meets Mondays and will practice for performances at nursing homes and other venues. For more information, call Connie at 445-8110.

Tuesday, July 18

Color Your World

Noon to 3:30 p.m.

Instructor Roy Hruska will guide attendees through the world of watercolor painting. Participants will create a piece of artwork to take home. Cost is $15, and includes instruction and materials. Advance registration required.

Join Ron Rademacher with “Michigan Rediscovered,” a road trip across Michigan to more than a dozen destinations most folks have missed places like the gravity mystery in Frankfort, the Monarch Butterfly Migration, and much more.

Help is available to those who need help with their computer. By appointment only.

Several public-use computers are available for use during normal business hours. Visitors may receive personalized assistance from volunteer Tim Wiggins.
