The Niles City Golf Tournament got under way Friday morning with 12 golfers participating in the youth division.

Play at Plym Park was scheduled to begin at 8 a.m.

The youth division plays nine holes.

Drew Rudlaff won the title last year after shooting 46.

Lee Anderson was the runner-up with a 53, while Dylan Duke was third with a 57.

Saturday morning, the Senior Division will hit the links.

Bob Freshley is the defending Senior Championship Flight champion. Freshley shot 152 to capture his fifth title in the last seven years.

Freshley is not entered into this year’s tournament according to pairings released by the City of Niles, which is now running the tournament.

Gerrell Durham was the runner up after finishing a stroke behind Freshley, who shot 152. Ed Debros was third.

Neither Durham or Debros entered this year’s event.

Jerry Marlin won the Senior A Flight championship, while Dick Noble won the Senior B Flight crown.

Marlin will defend his title, teeing off at 7:37 a.m. Friday along with Dave Hopper, Will Townsley and Bob Grenier.

Noble is not entered in this year’s tournament.
