What’s happening at the Niles District Library?

The Niles District Library is building a community of lifelong learners who want to make Niles their lifelong home. Monday, July 10
• 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. — Lunchtime adult coloring
Fans of coloring are invited to join the library in the rotunda (or outside on the patio, weather permitting) to spend time coloring; all materials will be provided.
• Noon to 1 p.m. — Hot Mess Monday
This program is designed for teens that like to make messes. Each Monday we are going to have an activity that may be messy. Dress accordingly. Meet in the storytime room. This week will be bleach spray shirts.
• 1 to 2 and 6 to 7 p.m. — Messy Monday
This program is for children ages 2 to 12. The library will have crafts, sensory experiences and experiments to exercise the brains of children. This program may be messy, so dress accordingly. This week, the group will make calm down bottles.
• 2:30-3:30 PM- Chair yoga
Tammy Pressler will teach aspiring yogis about the benefits of yoga while doing poses in a sturdy chair. Participants will learn breath techniques and rebuild their balance along the way.
• 4 to 5 p.m. — Friends of NDL meeting
• 7 to 8 p.m. — CDA Niles
Chemically Dependent Anonymous is a 12-step fellowship for those seeking freedom from drug and alcohol addiction. CDA Niles has a room reserved at the library from 7 to 8 p.m. every Monday and Wednesday. For more information, visit cdaweb.org/.
Tuesday, July 11
• 10:30 a.m. — Passport Pals
Globetrotters may join the library at 10:30 a.m. each Tuesday for a storytime tour of the world. Each week, the library will have books, songs, a craft and other surprises relating to the special country of the month.
• Noon to 1 p.m. — Trail Mix Tuesday
Each week, the library will have a different food-themed activity. Foodies may join the library in the storytime room. This program is for teens.
• 1 to 2 p.m. — Tasty Tuesday
Children ages infant to 12 are welcome to the library for a food-themed craft. This week, the group will be making graham cracker beach huts.
• 6 to 7 p.m. — Chips and
Chapters
Ms. Tara will read aloud from a chapter book each Tuesday while listeners eat chips and follow along.
• 6 to 7:30 p.m. — Women’s 12-step meeting
This program is for women in search of support working through the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. Drop-ins are welcome.
• 6:30 to 7 p.m. — Pajama Storytime
This program is an evening of three stories with music, movement and a craft. Feel free to wear your pajamas.
• 6:30 to 8 p.m. — Fiction for Foodies
Fiction for Foodies meets at 6:30 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month in the community room. Sign up at the information desk to receive a copy of the book.
Wednesday, July 12
• Multiple times – Storytime day
Squealers (birth to 18 months) at 9:30 a.m., Squeakers (18 months to 3 years) at 10 a.m., Squigglers (18 months to 5 years) at 10:30 a.m., Storytime (children 3 and older) at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
• 10 a.m. to noon- Special
Edition: Movie day
Special Edition is a series of programs designed to be accessible and engaging for adults and children with special needs. Participants may join the library for a summer movie day in the community room. This week’s movie will be “El Americano.”
• Noon to 1 p.m. — Wednesday Crafternoon
Ms. Tara will teach teens how to finger knit. Participants may grab a free lunch to eat while crafting. Meet in Patti’s Place.
• 7 to 8 p.m. — CDA Niles

Dr. Michael Nassaney will be signing copies of the third installment in the Fort St. Joseph Archaeological Project Booklet Series, “Sheltering New France.” Copies will be available for $10 each.
• 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. — Fort St. Joseph Archaeological lecture series
Dr. Jonathan Bush, Professor of English at Western Michigan University, will present “Conversations and Collaborations; Objectives, and Obligations: Building and Sustaining Meaningful University Community Partnerships in Context.”
