TWIN LAKES — Several residents of Twin Lakes helped rescue a Dowagiac man after he fell into the water Thursday evening, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies with the department were sent to a reported water rescue around 7:10 p.m. Police spoke with several residents at the scene who told officers they heard yells for help and that they responded. The residents pulled the victim, 55-year-old Chester Gleason, from the water onto a pontoon boat and then called police.

Emergency personnel transported Gleason to Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac for observation.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor. This incident is under investigation.
