Division 2 district champion Edwardsburg dominated the inaugural All-Leader Publications baseball team.

The Eddies, who finished the year 33-6 and won its third straight Wolverine Conference championship, had five players named to the first team as well as having A.J. Gaideski named Coach of the Year.

First team selections for Edwardsburg were Devin Pulling (catcher), Chris Griffin (infield), Caden Googin (outfield), Joe Raab (pitcher) and Zach Priebe (pitcher).

Pulling hit .394 for the Eddies with eight doubles and 21 RBIs. Griffin hit .420 with 10 doubles, two triples, seven home runs and 48 RBIs, while Googin hit .364 with four doubles, a triple, 23 RBIs and had 22 stolen bases.

Raab was 7-0 with an ERA of 1.13 in the hill for the Eddies. He struck out 81 batters in 49.3 innings.

Priebe was 6-0 with an ERA of 0.604 with 44 strikeouts in 46.3 innings.

“Chris had a phenomenal year at the plate and in the field,” Gaideski said. “He is a good athlete that works very hard and excels at everything he does. Devin also had a terrific year catching almost every game. I believe his arm behind the plate sets him apart from everybody else in the area.

“Caden has done a tremendous job both at the plate and in the field. He is lightning-quick. He runs down everything in the outfield and has a very accurate arm. Both pitchers have had great years.”

Brandywine landed three players on the team as Toby Fox was named at first base, Brady Duval as an outfielder and Joe Covyeou as the at-large player.

Fox hit .488 with 18 doubles, a triple and 28 RBIs, while Covyeou hit .322 with four doubles, a triple and 13 RBIs.

Duval hit .375 with six doubles, three triples, two home runs, 19 RBIs and stole 23 bases.

Niles and Buchanan each had one player on the first team.

The Vikings’ Drew Huffman was voted by the coaches and Leader Publications writers Amelio Rodriguez and Scott Novak as an outfielder, while the Bucks’ Christian Hall was named as an infielder.

Huffman hit .404 with four doubles, two triples, a home run, 22 RBIs and stole 22 baseball.

Hall hit .400 with nine doubles, three triples, two home runs and 13 RBIs.
