Three people, including a teenager, were injured in a two vehicle crash in LaGrange Township Tuesday, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies with the department were dispatched to a reported accident near the intersection of M-62 and Twin Lakes Road, between Dowagiac and Cassopolis, around 3:45 p.m. that afternoon.

The crash occurred when a vehicle driven by 19-year-old Donovan Schoff, of Cassopolis, crossed the center line while traveling east on M-62, causing him to collide with a vehicle, driven by 29-year-old John Richey, of Vandalia, which was heading west in the opposite lane. The crash caused both drivers to lose control of their vehicles and run off the roadway.

Both Schoff and Richey, as well as Schoff’s 14-year-old passenger, received minor injuries in the accident. EMS crews treated the trio on the scene.

Alcohol and drug use do not appear to be a factor, and all involved wore seatbelts. Police will continue to investigate the incident.

Officers with the Michigan State Police and Pokagon Tribal Police, along with crews from the Cassopolis and Wayne Township fire departments and Pride Care EMS assisted deputies at the crash site.
