South Bend man busted for alleged heroin delivery

A 26-year-old South Bend man who was alleged to be delivering heroin was arrested June 20 in Niles Township.

Geoffrey Duran Husband was taken into custody near Dairy Queen, 3145 S. 11th St. He was lodged at the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department Jail and charged with two counts of delivery of heroin, delivery of a counterfeit substance, and maintaining a drug vehicle, according to a press release.

Authorities from the Michigan State Police Southwest Enforcement Team, Berrien County Sheriff Department Road Patrol- Niles Twp. Unit, St. Joseph County Indiana, Drug Investigation Unit and ATF South Bend conducted a month-long investigation on the sale of heroin in the Niles Township area.

Husband was arraigned in the Fifth District Court on June 21.

The Southwest Enforcement Team (SWET) is comprised of sworn law enforcement personnel from the Michigan State Police, Marshall Police Department, Barry County Sheriff’s Department, Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Department, Kalamazoo Township Police Department, South Haven Police Department, Covert Police Department and the Berrien County Sheriff Department.

SWET is funded in part by the Michigan HIDTA (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area) as well as the U.S. Department of Justice, Byrne JAG grant.
