Abdelnour named general chair

BENTON HARBOR — The PGA of America announced today that Sam Abdelnour of St. Joseph, will serve as the General Chair for the 79th KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship.

The 79th KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship will be contested May 24-27, at Harbor Shores. It will be the fourth time since 2012 that the championship will be played at the Benton Harbor, Michigan, property.

Abdelnour, the vice president of sales, North American region for Whirlpool Corporation, served as Co-Vice Chair for the 2014 and 2016 championships, both played at Harbor Shores.

The general chair serves as an ambassador for the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship and heads an executive committee intent on providing a world-class experience for those involved with the event, as well as the southwest Michigan community.

The KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship, the most historic and prestigious major championship in senior golf, annually features the strongest field on the PGA TOUR Champions. Anticipated players in the 2018 field include past champions Bernhard Langer (2017), Rocco Mediate (2016), and Colin Montgomerie (2014 and 2015), as well as fan favorite John Daly, Miguel Angel Jimenez, and Steve Stricker.
