Edwardsburg, the Division 2 regional runner-up, had four players named to the Michigan High School Softball Coaches Association All-Regional team.
Dowagiac, which lost to the Eddies in the district finals, had a pair of players advance to the all-region team, which is the second step in the all-state process.
All-region players are now eligible to earn all-state status, which will be decided during the state finals this weekend in East Lansing.
Edwardsburg’s Allie Strycker (outfield), Savannah Dixon (second base), Layne Stinnett (third base) and Ashley Pion (pitcher) were named to the team.
Dowagiac’s Megan Soderbloom (catcher) and Amiyah Smith (utility) were also selected.
Soderbloom hit .461 with 16 doubles, a triple and 34 RBIs. She scored 21 runs in 38 games.
Smith hit .478 with 11 doubles, two triples, five home runs and 30 RBIs. She scored 43 runs in 36 games and stole 21 bases.
Dixon hit .417 with five doubles, a triple, seven home runs and 33 RBIs.
“Dixon is a four-year starter as a middle infielder playing second base and some shortstop,” said Edwardsburg coach Randy Brooks. “She is very steady and reliable on defense and improved her range and arm strength tremendously. Power numbers have really improved this year.”
Strycker hit .451 with three doubles, a triple and 18 RBIs. In the circle she was 14-4 with an ERA of 2.154. She struck out 98 in 117 innings pitched.
