Former Cass County Commissioner recognized for years of service

Former Cass County Commissioner Johnie Rodebush received a special present for his 95th birthday party last month. Officials with the current board honored the longtime resident of Cass County resident with a resolution recognizing him for his years of service to the community.

Rodebush was first sworn in as a commissioner Jan. 2, 1969, and served many terms of office on the board throughout 40 years before his retirement in 2012.

He was instrumental in the construction of the county annex and library, as well as the establishment of the Southwest Michigan Planning Commission in June 1974. He has also been an active member of the Cass County Parks and Recreation Board, and served on various other boards and organizations as well.
