Drug bust nets three arrests

Three people are behind bars after police raided a suspected drug house in the city Wednesday, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

Amberson Huff, 33, Michelle Henslee, 24, and Justin Arnold, 31, all of Dowagiac, were arraigned in Cass County Court Thursday, on various drug-related charges.

Huff was charged with the following crimes:

• Conspiracy to deliver/manufacture methamphetamine

• Three counts of delivery/manufacture of methamphetamine

• Possession of a controlled substance, less than 25 grams (hydrocodone)

• Conspiracy to maintain a drug house

• Maintaining a drug house

• Possession of marijuana

Huff was charged as a habitual offender, with three or more felonies on his prior record. He is currently being held on $60,000 bond.

Henslee and Arnold were charged with the following crimes:

• Conspiracy to deliver/manufacture methamphetamine

• Conspiracy to maintain a drug house

• Maintaining a drug house

• Possession of marijuana

Both are also being charged as habitual offenders, and are being held on $40,000 bonds.

According to police, the suspects were arrested after detectives with the Cass County Drug Enforcement Team executed a search warrant at a home on the 100 block of Jay Street in the City of Dowagiac Thursday afternoon, on suspicions that people were using and selling drugs on the premises.

During the search, drug detectives located methamphetamine and methamphetamine paraphernalia, as well as marijuana. Police also located evidence indicating that people were using the residence for drug dealing.

Police are still investigating the incident.
