Seniors Taylor Hulett, Nick Foote and Donovan Miller-Schoff were the recipients of the Dowagiac All-Sports Awards presented at the spring awards last night Wednesday.

Hulett, who plays volleyball, basketball and softball for the Chieftains, earned 11 varsity letters in her four-year career.

She was a seven-time all-conference award winner as well as a two-time all-district and all-regional selection.

She was a second team member of the inaugural All-Leader Publications basketball team.

Hulett, who will lead Dowagiac into the Division 2 district softball semifinals at Niles on Saturday, has been a team captain and is MHSAA Academic All-State with a GPA of 3.6.

“Taylor has been one great player for me over the past four years,” said Dowagiac softball coach Mike Behnke. “We won 18 games combined the two years before Taylor got into high school and we won 102 the four years she was in high school. She was solid both in the circle and at the plate. She will be sorely missed and hard to replace.”

Foote, who plays soccer and baseball for Dowagiac, has earned seven varsity letters.

He was named most improved in soccer as a sophomore and won the soccer Tough Man Award. He is a two-time all-conference and all-district award winner.

“Nick Foote is a player who you want on your team,” said Dowagiac baseball coach Dan Schuchardt. “He leads by example daily and commits himself to the team. Even after breaking his wrist this season he showed up to all of our games and practices dressed in uniform ready to help. He has leadership skills that are more showing by example, constantly doing things the right way.”

Foote is a two-time team capture and has received the Coaches Award. He has a GPA of 3.5.

Miller-Schoff competed in football, wrestling and track for the Chieftains.

He has earned five varsity letters and is a two-time all-conference and all-district selection.

Miller-Schoff won a pair of Coaches Awards, as well as most reversals and most improved in wrestling.

“Donovan is a very hard working kid,” said Dowagiac football coach Mike Stanger. “Pound-for-pound, one of the stronger kids in the football program. Donovan is very unselfish, he played offensive line and defensively as an undersized player and did a very good job.”
