This summer, Michiana Youth Robotics will offer several sessions of LEGO Robotics Camps for children ages 6 through 14. Camps will meet at Brandywine Innovation Academy, 1830 S. Bell Road, Niles.

Students ages 6 to 9 may choose from the 9 a.m. to noon or the 1 to 4 p.m. sessions of WeDo Robotics Camp from July 17 to July 21.

During the camp, students will work with LEGOs to build different projects such as dancing birds or spinning tops. They will learn about simple machines and how to make things work, as well as basic drag-and-drop programming. Students may bring a small snack for break time. Cost for WeDo Robotics is $150.

Aspiring engineers ages 9 to 14 may choose from three sessions of Robotics 1: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 19 to June 23; June 26 to June 30; or July 10 to July 14.

Working with LEGOs, each student will build a robot following a pattern, learn to program it and add sensors. They will have the opportunity to practice their new skills by adding attachments of their design to the robot and by programming it to accomplish specific missions. Students will need to bring a sack lunch and a notebook to class. Cost for Robotics 1 is $250.

To register, send a check or money order to Michiana Youth Robotics, 515 Huron St, Niles, MI 49120, along with the following information: student name, student age, parent name, email, phone number, and the name, date and time of your desired camp.
