Athlete Showcase: Niles’ Brooke Timm

Brooke Timm is a sophomore on the Niles softball team.

 

What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?

BT: Receiving all-conference and all-district as a freshman.

 

What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?

BT: When I popped out for the last out of the district championship game and we lost.

 

What has been a hardship in your life?

BT: Gaining confidence in myself.

 

Who is a “hero” in your life and why?

BT: Trish Gardini, because she is a role model and pushes me to be my best.

 

When are you the most nervous while you are competing?

BT: When any of my superstitions go wrong.

 

Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.

BT: One time, the ball was pitched behind me and it hit my bat and rolled fair. So I was completely clueless and went back to the dugout.

 

How do you tend to work out/train when by yourself?

BT: I do pitching and hitting lessons every week.

 

What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?

BT: Track or tennis.

 

Why are sports an important part of a high school experience?

BT: Sports teach a lot about life and they create memories that you will never forget.

 

How would you give away $50,000?

BT: I would give it to Niles to redo the softball field.

 

If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?

BT: The Florida Gators.

 

If I did not play sports, I would…?

BT: Spend more time at the lake.

 

What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?

BT: To stay positive after an error.

 

If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?

BT: Get rid of the dropped third strike.

 

What is the best compliment you have ever received?

BT: I was helping some young girls, and one came up to me and said “I want to pitch just like you when I am older.”

 

What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?

BT: Switching teams in the middle of the season. It ended up being the best thing for me. So yes, I am very glad.

 

What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?

BT: A really cool magic trick.

 

What is your favorite hobby? Why?

BT: Softball, because it is what I love. It is how I spend most of my time.
