Sturgis takes two from Bobcats

Visiting Sturgis swept a non-league baseball doubleheader from Brandywine Thursday.

The Trojans (19-13) scored a pair of runs in the fifth inning on a two-run home run by Jake Abbs.

Brandywine was able to score a run in the bottom of the seventh, but could not overcome the deficit.

Toby Fox went the distance, allowing two runs on nine hits with a pair of strikeouts.

The Bobcats managed just three hits off of Sam Leck.

Scott Miller, Connor Janowiak and JeRod Glenn all singled. Glenn drove in the lone run.

In the nightcap, Brecken Stewart and Drew Murphy combined on a four-hitter with Murphy getting the victory in relief.

Joey Covyeou took the loss with relief help from Ty Mickiewicz.

Brady Duval was 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs. Janowiak and Glenn had the other two hits.
