Paw Paw sweeps pair from Dowagiac

PAW PAW — Visiting Dowagiac dropped a pair of Wolverine Conference baseball games to Paw Paw Friday.

The Chieftains were blanked by the Redskins 5-0 in the opening game and then lost the nightcap 4-3 in nine innings.

Dowagiac was held to just two hits in the first game by Kyle Downard, who struck out nine and walked one.

Brenden Dudley went the distance for the Chieftains, allowing four earned runs on six hits with six strikeouts and no walks.

Ellijah Williams and Dudley both singled for Dowagiac.

In the second game, the Chieftains had seven hits, led by Kade Schriber who was 3-for-4. Duan Simpson was 2-for-5 for Dowagiac.

Mack Charles took the loss in relief of starter Williams, who worked four and two-third innings.

Dowagiac travels to Plainwell today for a Wolverine Conference doubleheader.
