Dowagiac Union High School officials honored a group of juniors who put the pedal to the metal this past school year Tuesday.

Administrators with the high school’s Youth Experiencing Success program recognized a group of 44 11th-grade students who earned all A’s and B’s in their third marking period classes during a ceremony that morning in the high school media center. Partnering with the school for the presentation was C. Wimberley Automotive, which provided coupons for free car washes to the juniors.

The ceremony was the last YES event for this school year. Administrators hosted five prior recognition events this past year, honoring the outstanding achievement of 220 students. There were three presentations for freshmen, one for sophomores and one for juniors.

Each of these students received a certificate from the principal, and a coupon for a free item from a sponsoring Dowagiac business.
