Board leases Red Brick property to local farmer

The Cassopolis Public Schools has agreed to lease the Red Brick School property to an adjacent landowner.

The Board of Education agreed to a three-year release to George Brossman, who owns farm land next to Ross Beatty Jr./Sr. High School and the Red Brick property.

In other action, the board:

  • Recognized students from the fourth- through eighth-grade spelling bee team, the grades third- to fifth-grade Science Olympiad team, the junior/senior high Science Olympiad team and the RoboRangers robotics team.
  • Approved a request for the Michigan History team for an overnight trip to Washington, D.C. to compete in the national history competition.
  • Approved the Lewis Cass IDS 2017-18 budget.
  • Heard a presentation by the Sam Adams Kindness Project.
  • Approved a resolution designating Skip Dyes and Heather Zile as the districts’ IDS election representative.
  • Hired Cristy Ernst, J.T. Laraway and Lindsay Gorham as summer school teachers.
