Division 4 track: Cassopolis’ Fiala wins four events

NEW BUFFALO — Cassopolis’ Sophia Fiala won two individual events and was a member of two winning Ranger relay teams at the Division 4 regional at New Buffalo Saturday.

Fiala won the 100- and 300-meter hurdles with times of 16.72 and 49.73 respectively.

She was also a member of the 800- and 400-meter relay teams than posted time of 1:56.96 and 55.12 respectively.

Imani Brown, Ashante Gibson and Santaja Gibson were the other members of the winning relay teams.

Brown was also the regional champion in the 100-meters with a time of 13.35.

Madison Brooks won a pair of field event championships. She took first place in the discus with a toss of 103-7 and the shot put with a throw of 33-11.5.

Cassopolis finished second behind Marcellus for the team championship.

The Ranger boys’ team was ninth overall. Kalamazoo Hackett was the regional champion.

The top Cassopolis finish was Davonte Goins, who was fourth in the high jump with a height of 5-4.
