Lewis Cass ISD Board of Education (April 12)
Payment of bills: The board approved the payment of bills, including including the general fund totaling $97,898.99; special ed fund totaling $85,215.56; lunch fund totaling $20,587.21; and payroll vendor checks totaling $110,478.11. Yes: Unanimous.
Strategic plan: The board voted to adopt a new strategic plan, as presented. Yes: Unanimous.
First reading of policies: The board approved the first reading of several new polices, including: Release-ESSA Collection-Phase I (Michigan) dated February 2017; Special Release-Technology Collection-Phase II (ISD) dated February 2017; and Volume 31, Number 2 Updated Bylaws/Policies dated February 2017. Yes: Unanimous.

Cassopolis Board of Education (May 8)
The Cassopolis Board of Education voted unanimously to authorize the purchaseof four 77-passenger school buses from Midwest Transit Equipment with five annual payments of $58,256.
Cassopolis Superintendent Tracy Hertsel said he has reviewed the specifics for a request for the Ross Beatty History team to travel to Washington, D.C. to compete in the national competition. The board will take action on the request at its next regularly scheduled meeting at 7 p.m. Monday.
Angela Piazza, who has been named the new Cassopolis Public Schools superintendent beginning July 1, attended the meeting. Hertsel said that she will be in the district at various times as she begins the transition into her new position.
