What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?

RR: Splitting two sets and going to a third set and then losing.

Who is a “hero” in your life and why?

RR: My mom is definitely my hero because she is strong and hard-working. She has taught me so much in life and I do not know where I would be without her.

When are you the most nervous while you are competing?

RR: When I really need the point in a close match.

Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.

RR: When I swung really hard to hit a perfect shot, but I completely missed it.

What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?

RR: I thought about playing softball, but when I learned how to play tennis it was more for me and I really enjoy it.

Why are sports an important part of a high school experience?

RR: Sports keep you really focused on grades and attendance. It also adds some excitement into your everyday life.

How would you give away $50,000?

RR: I would give Mrs. Livengood and coach (Joe Marizita) $17,500 each to help with the programs, because they both give so much. I would give my mom $15,000 to have the getaway of her dreams.

If I did not play sports, I would…?

RR: I would pick up a lot more hours at work.

What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?

RR: Planting my feet during an approach shot.

What is the best compliment you have ever received?

RR: Coach says my middle name is “Desire.”

What is your favorite hobby? Why?

RR: My favorite hobby would have to be horseback riding. I do not do it as often as I would like to, but when you are on the back of such a beautiful creature and feeling its strength propelling you, it is very relaxing and fun, plus you get to share a good laugh with friends.

Choose one word to describe yourself:

RR: Self-driven.
