What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?

JG: One of my greatest accomplishments as a high school athlete is having an on-base percentage of above .400.

What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?

JG: My biggest disappointment as an athlete was practically missing a game-winning double play ball against my high school rival.

What has been a hardship in your life?

JG: A hardship I have had in my life was always being the short one on the team, but my game played big.

Who is a “hero” in your life and why?

JG: A hero in my life is probably my father, because no matter what I know he will always be there when I need him.

When are you the most nervous while you are competing?

JG: I am most nervous while competing when I go down 0-2 in the count with two outs.

Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.

JG: My most embarrassing moment in athletics was when I almost went up to bat without a helmet on my head.

How do you tend to work out/train when by yourself?

JG: I tend to take runs on the city trails and play other sports to stay in shape.

What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?

JG: I would probably want to compete in track if I wasn’t playing baseball.

Why are sports an important part of a high school experience?

JG: I believe sports are an important part of the high school experience because they help you stay in shape and it helps you keep your grades up.

How would you give away $50,000?

JG: If I had $50,000 to give away I would give half of it to my parents and then give the rest to a charity.

If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?

JG: If I could be a head coach for any team for a year I would probably coach the New York Yankees, because I would just want to watch the games.

If I did not play sports, I would…?

JG: If I didn’t play any sports I would probably work every day to help for expenses around my house.

What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?

JG: The most challenging thing for me to do in my sport is to overcome pressure that comes my way.

If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?

JG: If I could change one rule about my sport I would change the fact that we can’t make any contact with the catcher with a close play at home plate.

What is the best compliment you have ever received?

JG: The best compliment I have ever received was, “you look like Jeter out there, son.”
