The Cassopolis Village Council approved new hours for all of its parks Monday night.

The current vague law of dawn to dusk has been replaced by the hours of 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. in a unanimous vote.

Signage will be purchase and placed as Don Horne, Clisbee, Southside and Log Cabin parks.

The council also approved waving the fee for Done Horne Park for the Cassopolis High School’s “Senior Day” activities.

The seniors usually used the William F. Scott football field, but due to continuing construction, the district asked if it could use Don Horne Park instead.

In other action, the council:

  • Approved signing a contract with Reliable Generator Services for $2,427
  • Approved spending up to $750 for a new industrial park sign
  • Tabled having Grimes Tree Service remove three trees from Prospect Hill Cemetery
  • Approved signing a contract with AEP for $1,000 for an easement
  • Approved an MDOT resolution for the paving of parts of South Street
  • Approved a zoning change on Sherman Lane from residential to manufacturing district
  • Approved hiring of Roosevelt Thomas as the village’ local attorney
  • Went into closed session to discuss ongoing police union contract negotiations and pending litigation
