Jakob and Drew Huffman have signed a national letter of intent to continue their academic and athletic careers at Adrian College.

The twins helped lead the Niles baseball team to the Division 2 state quarterfinals last season.

They have wanted to continue to play on the same team for as long as they can remember.

“We have always talked about playing baseball together at the collegiate level since we were little, but it wasn’t a requirement or a must,” said Jakob Huffman. “It just ended up happening that way.”

He said he was looking for a school that would make him feel at home and Adrian gave him that feeling during a visit to the campus.

“I wanted a smaller school so I could have a good relationship with the professors,” he said. “I was impressed with the weight room and baseball facilities. I chose Adrian because I really liked the baseball coach and how he runs his program. It feels like it will be a great fit.”

Drew Huffman was seeking a school that grabbed his attention.

“The campus was beautiful and I wanted a school that not only fit me academically, but also athletically,” he said. “Coach (Craig) Rainey did a great job of convincing me to come play for the program. The baseball field was perfect and the way he held himself I can tell he knows what he is doing. Eight straight championships speaks for itself. Another reason I selected Adrian was because the campus felt very welcoming, and the faculty was very friendly.”

Jakob said he was interested in Kalamazoo College as well as Albion and Grand Valley State University.

Drew said that Adrian was his top choice, but also considered Albion and Grand Valley.

They are the parents of Todd and Tracey Huffman.
