Host Dowagiac held off a seventh-inning rally by the Cassopolis Rangers to earn a sweep and win the Bryan Frazier Memorial.

The tournament is usually a round robin format, but due to the loss of a third team, the Chieftains and Rangers squared off in a non-conference doubleheader at Rotary Park Saturday.

Dowagiac took an 8-1 lead into the top half of the seventh inning before Cassopolis rallied for four runs.

But the Rangers’ comeback bid fell short as they lost to the Chieftains 8-5.

Dowagiac had no trouble with Cassopolis in the second game as it scored 11 runs in the third inning to win 12-3.

Brenden Dudley picked up the victory for the Chieftains in the opening game with relief help from Adrien Bucha-Moore and Brandon Felthouse.

Dylan Green took the loss for the Rangers.

Kade Schriber doubled, tripled and drove in a run for Dowagiac, which also got two hits each from Collin Hassle and Duan Simpson.

In the second game, Ellijah Williams picked up the win in relief of starter Mack Charles.

Dowagiac was led offensively by Austin Jones, who singled, doubled and drove in two runs. Williams added a single and a double.

Nick Baker doubled for the Rangers.
