We’re only human, after all

read the news the other day and, oh boy,  did it have a no-brainer story that Trump’s popularity holds solid among his base.

Naturally, that reminded me of the little kid in the newsboy cap who tearfully pleaded “Say it isn’t so, Joe,” as his hero Joe Jackson emerged from the courtroom convicted of throwing the 1919 World Series.

I’d like to think that this sorrowful lad took it like a man, dealt with the truth, grew up and became much wiser for it.

That’s because Breitbart.com didn’t exist in 1919. Otherwise the kid would have gone on to live a life of endless conspiracies.

This reminded me of my musing on ways to repair America’s election process that is irreversibly broken by those peddling political porn and polemic pollution for profit. Scientists need to get going — and fast — on developing a superior intelligence (aka artificial intelligence) that wouldn’t give another Trump the time of day.

I’m not saying that this AI machine would pick our president, but the super brain in the box would evaluate candidates based on advanced algorithms that would be able to evaluate candidates and their character and qualifications. The electronic brain would recommend only the most superior candidates for president.

Never again would we see another Trump.

What I am really saying here is that our species, Homosapiens, is a highly defective species. If we wanted utopia, we would have long had utopia and let ourselves be governed by the very best of our species.

Instead we are a race that has always lived in dystopia. Ever since Cain killed Abel out of jealousy we have been an absolute mess.

Trump or no Trump, humans need AI.
