Visiting Edwardsburg continued its hot hitting with a sweep of Niles in non-conference softball Thursday afternoon.

After bashing Dowagiac in a pair of Wolverine Conference games Tuesday, the Eddies crushed the Vikings 12-1 and 13-0. Both games lasted just five innings.

Ali Strycker tossed a four-hitter with a pair of strikeouts.

The Eddies banged out 11 hits, including a 4-for-4 performance by Kailee Claire with a double and an RBI.

Strycker and Savannah Dixon both had two hits, while Layne Stinnett and Courtney Ryker both doubled. Ryker also had a pair of RBIs.

All four Niles hits were singled. Addison Davies drove in the lone Vikings’ run.

In the nightcap, Edwardsburg finished with 15 hits and Ashley Pion tossed a two-hitter.

Dixon was 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs, while Claire, Stinnett, Michaela Ritschard, Hannah Shoupe and Pion all had two hits. Ritschard had a pair of doubles for the Eddies, who also got home runs from Ryker and Lexi Clark.

Pion struck out four in picking up the victory.

Brooke Timm took the loss in both games for the Vikings.

On Saturday, the Vikings were swept by South Bend St. Joseph.

The Indians won 6-0 and 10-0.

“It’s hard to win ballgames when were not hitting and making mistakes in the field,” said Niles coach Rick McKeel. “We have a lot of work to do and need to clean up our defense and improve our hitting.”

Niles had six hits against St. Joseph.

Timm and Taylor Altergott both doubled for the Vikings.
