A Niles man traveling to work on his bicycle was injured when he was clipped by a tractor trailer at 5:16 a.m. Friday, on M-60 Highway between Yankee Street and Reum Road, said Cass County Sheriff Richard J. Behnke.

Dominique J Howze, 22, indicated that he was on his way to work, riding west along M-60 Highway, when he believes he was clipped by a passing tractor-trailer.

This caused Howze to lose control of his bicycle and crash along the shoulder of M-60. Howze then continued to work, where he was then sent to the hospital for evaluation and treatment.

Howze suffered non-life threatening injuries.

A sheriff’s deputy arrived at Lakeland Hospital to talk with Howze about the incident.

Howze was not able to identify the tractor-trailer that had passed him.

Howze did not appear to be wearing reflective clothing and his bicycle did not have a front light or rear reflector on it. Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the crash, police said.
