Athlete Showcase: Niles’ Cody Glick

Cody Glick is a senior on the Niles baseball team.

 

What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?

CG: Reaching the state quarterfinals in 2016.

 

What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?

CG: Losing in the state quarterfinals.

 

What has been a hardship in your life?

CG: Losing my grandparents.

 

Who is a “hero” in your life and why?

CG: My brother Connor, because he has made our name known.

 

When are you the most nervous while you are competing?

CG: Extra innings.

 

Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.

CG: Striking out in a clutch situation.

 

How do you tend to work out/train when by yourself?

CG: Push myself to be the best I can possibly be.

 

What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?

CG: Rugby.

 

Why are sports an important part of a high school experience?

CG: High school sports have made me who I am today.

 

How would you give away $50,000?

CG: Donate it to charity.

 

If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?

CG: The Chicago Cubs.

 

If I did not play sports, I would…?

CG: Work.

 

What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?

CG: Ignoring the haters.

 

If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?

CG: The balk for a pitcher.

 

What is the best compliment you have ever received?

CG: Hearing “great game” from my father.

 

What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?

CG: Meeting my girlfriend’s parents.

 

What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?

CG: My two good friends, Austin (Curran) and Keegan (Neumann) committing to Michigan State University.

 

What is your favorite hobby? Why?

CG: Fishing, because it is relaxing.
