Roundup: Edwardsburg third at Allegan jamboree; Bucks second at BCS event

ALLEGAN — Defending Wolverine Conference golf champion Otsego is in a bit of a tailspin.

The Bulldogs have lost three of the last four jamborees, including Monday’s at Chesire Hills in Allegan.

Plainwell, winner of two of the last three jamborees, edged Otsego 167-168 at Cheshire Hills.

Edwardsburg finished third with a 176, while Dowagiac was ninth with a 199.

The Eddies’ Carter Goodson remains on a tear as he won another medalist honor after shooting 37.

Goodson shot a four-under 68 as the Wolverine Conference played a doubleheader at Lake Doster in Otsego last Thursday.

Dowagiac was led by Matt Mosier’ 47. Nick Saltzman finished with a 49.

THREE RIVERS — Visiting Dowagiac dropped a Wolverine Conference match against Three Rivers Monday,

The Chieftains, coming off a second place finish at the Brandywine Bobcat Invitational over the weekend, split the doubles flights, but could only manage one win in singles action.

Micaela Ruff was the only Dowagiac player to win a single match as she defeated Abby Springer in a third-set tiebreaker.

Luda Dickson-French and Lex Chorba defeated Mary Miller and Briana Kupiec 6-0 and 6-2 at No. 1 doubles, while Jessany Stockwell and Mei Miyamota defeated Anna and Lucy Dong at No. 3 doubles 2-6, 6-3 and 6-4.

BCS East Division Jamboree

The BCS Athletic Conference East Division golf race has been led by one horse the entire season.

White Pigeon, led by division medalist Jordan Olsen, has won all three jamborees this season, including Monday’s at Orchard Hills Country Club.

Olsen shot 39 to earn medalist honors and helped lead the Chiefs to a team total of 191.

Buchanan has been the runner-up in all three jamborees and did so again Monday as the Bucks finished with a 202.

Brandywine shot 218, Cassopolis 228 and Howardsville Christian 236 to round out the field.

White Pigeon takes a 12-9 lead over Buchanan in the division standings. Brandywine is third with four points.

The Bucks were led by freshman Austin Lloyd’s 44.

Brandywine was paced by Jordan Mickiewicz’s 49, while the Rangers got a 51 from Hunter Tietsort.
