Two arrested for illegal pot operation

Two Howard Township residents were arrested after allegedly running an illegal marijuana grow operation Monday, according to the Cass County Drug Enforcement Team.

Detectives executed a search warrant in the 60000 block of Conrad Road in Howard Township on suspicion that occupants were illegally growing marijuana. After conducting a search of the buildings on the property, detectives located marijuana, marijuana paraphernalia and a marijuana grow operation.

The grow operation was not being conducted within the guidelines provided in the Michigan Medical Marijuana Act and was therefore illegal.

A 62-year-old male was charged with manufacturing marijuana, possession of marijuana and maintaining a drug house.

A 56-year-old was charged with possession of marijuana and maintaining a drug house.

Charges are still being sought in regards to the incident.

Names of subjects arrested are being withheld pending arraignment.

Detectives were assisted on scene by the Cass County Warrant Service Team.
