A 27-year-old female located by Cass County K-9 Faust after fleeing from police Sunday is in police custody.

The woman, whose name is being withheld pending arraignment, was involved in a vehicle pursuit with the Pokagon Band Tribal Police at around 4:46 a.m. Sunday, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s office.

The female fled from police officers and crashed on Johnson Street near Budlow Street in Dowagiac.

Once the vehicle came to a stop, the driver fled from officers, at which time the K-9 unit was dispatched to the scene to track the subject.

A short time later, Faust located the driver hiding in thick underbrush in a wooded area near the crash location.

The driver was taken to Dowagiac Lee Memorial hospital for a medical evaluation and was later transported to Cass County Jail for the charges of operating while intoxicated, flee and elude, leaving the scene of a traffic crash, possession of marijuana, driving without a license, open container and an oustanding warrant for her arrest.
