Cassopolis council appoints standing committees

The Cassopolis Village council made its annual appointments during its regular meeting Monday night.

Tonia Betty was appointed to another two-year term as the village’s clerk, while Ben Anderson was appointed for another year as the Department of Public Works superintendent and street administrator.

Other multiple-term appointments were:

• Jack Hughes, construction board of appeals (three years)

• Julie Hartman, planning commission (three years)

• Mary McFarland, planning commission (three years)

• Frank Williams Jr. and Robert Collins, zoning board of appeals (three years)

Rick Drews was appointed building inspector, Ron Bellaire appointed electrical inspector and John Dobberteen plumbing/mechanical inspector.

All are appointed annually.

Kreis Enderie was appointed as the village’s attorney for another year.

The finance committee will be comprised of Cynthia Jackson-Ash, Village President David Johnson and Williams.

Katherine Yoder, Geraldine Norwood-Sims and Jackson-Ash will make up the parks and recreation board.

Kim Parson, Johnson and Eugene Wagner have been appointed to the personnel committee.

Each April, the village must make appointments to its various boards and committees. The village president appoints or nominates members of the council and/or citizens of the community.

The village has five standing committees:

• Parks and recreation

• Personnel

• Finance

• Main Street

• Cemetery board
