Visiting Buchanan had no trouble in sweeping Brandywine 12-2 and 10-0 in BCS Athletic Conference Red Division softball Tuesday.

The Bobcats, who were without pitcher Kennedy Byrd, played the Bucks tough through five innings in the opening game.

Buchanan (6-3) led 4-0 heading into the sixth when it scored five times to break open the contest.

Sammi Luzarde scattered eight hits to pick up the win.

Taylor Reed had four hits, including a double and a triple for the Bucks, who also got a double and a triple from Jayla Bibbs.

Megan Adkerson and Megan Ankrapp both doubled for Buchanan.

Morgan Crocker and Nicole Sachman both doubled for the Bobcats, who drop to 2-4.

In the nightcap, Erika Donathen tossed a two-hitter for Buchanan.

Bibbs doubled and tripled again to lead the Bucks offensively. Luzadre also had a double, while Alyssa Florey homered.

Grace Polomcak doubled for Brandywine.

 

Niles at Mattawan

The visiting Vikings ran into an offensive buzz saw in Mattawan Tuesday.

The Wildcats (2-3) banged out a combined 25 hits in the West Division contest.

The Vikings (4-4) managed just eight hits in the contest.

Reese Davies homered in the opener, while Kesley Barkman and Caitlin Daly both doubled.
