District champion Cassopolis leads All-Leader Publications team

Class C district champion Cassopolis had a pair of players named to the inaugural All-Leader Publications boys basketball team.

Senior Shane Los and sophomore Tyrese Hunt-Thompson led the Rangers to their first district championship in nine years.

Hunt-Thompson, who was named the BCS Blue Division’s Most Valuable Player, averaged 16 points, 4.4 steals, 4.1 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game for Cassopolis, which finished the year 18-5.

Los averaged 13.5 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.7 steals.

Joining them on the first team are Brandywine’s Hunter Slaughter, Dowagiac’s Adrian Bucha-Moore and Edwardsburg’s Adam Kozinski.

Slaughter, who was the BCS Red Division’s Most Valuable Player, averaged 17.4 points, 4.3 assist, 3.7 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game.

Bucha-Moore averaged 13 points, five rebounds and two assists per contest, while Kozinski averaged 14.1 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists.

Second team selections were Brady Duval of Brandywine, Dalton Riddle of Buchanan, Jamin Hunt and Demetrius Lanier of Dowagiac, along with Bryce Lake of Niles.

The first All-Leader Publications team consisted of six seniors, two juniors, one sophomore and one freshman.

The Leader Publications boys basketball team was selected by coaches Nathan Knapp, Brandywine; Reid McBeth, Buchanan; Ricky Evans, Cassopolis, Danum Hunt, Dowagiac, Stephen Wright, Edwardsburg; Amelio Rodriguez, Leader Publications and Scott Novak, Leader Publications.
