The Farm & Artisan Market is cultivating plans to kick off its fourth season in downtown Dowagiac this June.

Growers and artisans can reserve their space now for the market that re-opens Wednesday, June 7, and will continue through the second Saturday of October.  The market will be open Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Vickie Phillipson, program director for the Dowagiac Downtown Development Authority, said growers and artisans can register to participate in the market by contacting her at (269) 782-8212 or by e-mail at Vphillipson@Dowagiac.org. Working with her is Steve Arseneau, director of the Dowagiac Area History Museum.

Phillipson said the Farm & Artisan Market will be located within the downtown at Division and Railroad streets, upon the lawn of the Dowagiac Area History Museum.  The location provides easy access and visibility to M-62, which is one of the major arteries coming into the city.

Farmers, backyard growers, businesses and local artisans will have the opportunity on Saturdays and Wednesdays to sell their fruit and produce, annuals and perennials, baked goods, and other Michigan or hand-made products downtown.

Space is available at the market for $10, for those who have their own overhead canopy.  Vendors, without a canopy, can rent one from the DDA for an additional $2.

Phillipson said organizers are seeking local musicians to perform on site on Saturdays and a food vendor to provide grilled meats on site.  Patrons will again be able to participate in the Preferred Customer Promotion, which was introduced last year.
