BENTON TOWNSHIP — Lake Michigan College will host an organ donation registration and blood drive from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4, in the Benton Harbor campus gymnasium.
The event is organized by LMC students and faculty in the Dental Assisting Department and members of LMC’s Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, and is co-sponsored with the Michigan Community Blood Center.

Brenda L. Dickey

The event is named in honor of Brenda L. Dickey, of Buchanan. Dickey was a former dental assisting program instructor and LMC graduate who died in January after receiving a liver transplant last fall.
An annual Registered Dental Assisting Excellence Award will also be renamed in Dickey’s honor.
Attendees can register for organ donation at the event or at any time by visiting the Gift of Life Michigan website at giftoflifemichigan.org/go/lmc. A driver’s license is required.
“The Dental Assisting Department wanted to do something to honor Brenda’s legacy as a dedicated, caring dental professional who made everyone smile with her special brand of humor and genuine warmth,” said Director of Registered Dental Assisting Julie Centala Uribe. “We are excited about this partnership and plan to make it an annual event.”
