Athlete Showcase: Brandywine’s Corbin Eckenberger

Corbin Eckenberger is a junior on the Brandywine track team.

 

What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?

CE: Winning the conference as a freshman in wrestling.

 

What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?

CE: Leading my football team to a losing season.

 

What has been a hardship in your life?

CE: When my parents split up and I had to push through life.

 

Who is a “hero” in your life and why?

CE: My mom is my hero, because she is the one that has been behind me since day one.

 

When are you the most nervous while you are competing?

CE: I am most nervous right before I step on the field, mat or track.

 

Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.

CE: When I fell and hit a hurdle in track.

 

How do you tend to work out/train when by yourself?

CE: I train hard. I push myself.

 

What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?

CE: I would like to play basketball.

 

Why are sports an important part of a high school experience?

CE: Sports are what push me through high school.

 

How would you give away $50,000?

CE: I would give half of it to my family to help them out and then split the rest up between charity and myself.

 

If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?

CE: I would choose the Browns, because I would not go 0-16.

 

If I did not play sports, I would…?

CE: Would have low grades and be struggling.

 

What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?

CE: The cut weight in wrestling.

 

If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?

CE: I would change the blindside rule in football.

 

What is the best compliment you have ever received?

CE: That I work hard for what I want.

 

What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?

CE: Staying after hours to help a freshman out with sports.

 

What is your favorite hobby? Why?

CE: Sports. They keep my head straight and keep my looking forward.
