The Buchanan Community School Board has narrowed the field in its search for a new superintendent. Potterville Public Schools Superintendent Timothy Donahue, and Clawson High School Principal Ryan Sines have been selected as the two finalists.
Second-round interviews are tentatively scheduled to take place Tuesday, April 11 and Wednesday April 12 in the Buchanan Middle School Media Center, 610 W. Fourth St., Buchanan, MI 49107. Exact times and dates will be announced soon.
“The public is strongly encouraged to attend. Feedback from the audience has been very valuable to the Board in the selection process,” said search consultant Gary Rider. Rider is the regional president of the Michigan Leadership Institute. He was selected by the Buchanan board to facilitate the search effort.
Timothy Donahue has served as superintendent for the Potterville Public Schools for the past seven years. Prior to this work, he served as the high school principal at Potterville for two years. Mr. Donahue has an educational specialist degree from Oakland University, a master’s degree in English/technical Writing from Wayne State University and a bachelor’s degree in English teacher education from Michigan State University.
Ryan Sines has served as high school principal for the Clawson Public Schools for the past seven years. Sines has an educational specialist degree in educational leadership from Saginaw State University, a master’s degree in educational administration from Cleveland State University, and a bachelor’s degree in education from Miami of Ohio.
Rider said the next steps of the selection process will include opportunities for the board, parents, school staff and business and community leaders to interact with the two finalists. He said board members agreed that the two finalists best met the criteria identified in the superintendent profile.
The profile includes a list of characteristics generated through input from board members, parents, community and business leaders, students, and Buchanan staff members.
