Organizers of this year’s Fitch Camp Soup Luncheon want to thank everyone who helped make the event a success.

This year’s luncheon raised $2,045. The funds will directly benefit E. Root Fitch Camp, a nonprofit agency dedicated to providing leadership, supervision and fun activities for the children of Dowagiac.

Fitch Camp has been a staple in most students’ summer vacations for the last 75 years, fundraiser officials said. The camp is made possible only with the support of volunteers, donors, organizations from across the community and former campers from across the country.

The camp at Cable Lake has been a tradition for thousands of Dowagiac youth since 1941. The camp is open to Dowagiac elementary and middle school students, with attendance, transportation and meals costing only $1 a day.

The camp provides nature, sports, art and game activities.
