Brandywine sweeps doubles to win own tournament

Brandywine swept the doubles flights to capture its own Brandywine Indoor Invitational at the Lakeland Tennis Club Saturday.

The Bobcats scored 23 points to defeat Comstock (16) and Galesburg-August (9).

Winning flight champions in single competition for the Bobcats were Shaylee Smith, Rachel Riffel and Elizabeth Hartz.

Doubles champions were Hannah Martin and Ava Moody, Lauren Srmek and Olivia Whitney, Carrigan Duffield and Alysa Marlin, as well as Megan Schmidt and Maigon Conrad.

“Just a great way for us to start our season as all eight flights played well,” Brandywine coach Joe Marazita said. “Rachel fought hard and Shaylee cruised to gain their medals.”
