Two vehicles collided in a head-on crash at about 8:35 p.m. Wednesday on N. Redbud Trail near Miller Road in Buchanan Township.
Troopers from the Michigan State Police Niles Post were dispatched to the crash, with the Buchanan City Police Department, Berrien Springs-Oronoko Township Police Department, the Buchanan Township Fire Department, and SMCAS ambulance service.
The crash occurred when Timothy Glosson, 48, of Buchanan, was traveling in a vehicle northbound on N. Redbud Trail near Miller Road. While driving north, Glosson’s vehicle crossed the centerline and struck another vehicle head on, according to a news release.
The second vehicle, which was driving south, was being operated by Michelle Coulson, 19, of Berrien Springs. The second vehicle was also occupied by Coulson’s two young children.
Glosson was airlifted to Memorial Hospital in South Bend with serious injuries, but is now listed in stable condition.
The occupants of the second vehicle were treated at the scene and released. The occupants of both vehicles were properly restrained and the children were in proper car seats.
Officers said this crash should serve as a reminder to always stay buckled and to properly restrain children in their appropriate car seat. The young children in this crash avoided serious injury by being properly restrained, the release stated.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
